Whether you are a daily commuter navigating city streets or an adventure rider exploring cross-country trails, storage is one of the most critical aspects of your motorcycle setup. A Motorcycle Top Case (also known as a rear trunk or top box) is the most practical solution for carrying gear safely and securely.

In this collection, you will find a premium range of top cases designed to fit universal rear racks, offering waterproof protection, theft security, and varying capacities to suit your specific needs.

What is a Motorcycle Top Case and Why Do You Need One?

A top case is a hard-shell luggage box that mounts to the rear rack of a motorcycle or scooter. Unlike soft saddlebags or backpacks, a hard top case offers:

  • Security: With robust locking mechanisms, you can leave your helmet and valuables on your bike without worry.
  • Weather Protection: Hard shells (Aluminum or ABS) are inherently waterproof and dustproof, keeping your electronics and clothes dry.
  • Passenger Comfort: Many top cases come with or allow for backrests, providing support for your pillion rider.
  • Aerodynamics: Designed to sit behind the rider, they have minimal impact on the bike’s width and handling compared to wide side panniers.

Types of Top Cases: Aluminum vs. ABS Plastic

Choosing the right material is the first step in selecting your luggage. Our collection features the two most popular types:

1. Aluminum Top Cases (Adventure & Touring)

Aluminum boxes are the gold standard for adventure touring (ADV) motorcycles. Built from high-strength aluminum alloy, usually with reinforced corners, these boxes are designed to take a beating. They offer a rugged, industrial look that matches bikes like the BMW GS, Honda Africa Twin, or Voge Rally.

Pros: Extremely durable, boxy shape maximizes internal packing space, flat top allows for strapping extra gear (like tents), superior security.

2. ABS Plastic Top Cases (Urban & Sport)

ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) is a high-grade thermoplastic known for being lightweight and impact-resistant. These cases often feature more aerodynamic, rounded designs that suit naked bikes, scooters, and sport-tourers.

Pros: Lightweight (doesn't affect center of gravity), aerodynamic, often more affordable, sleek modern design.

Capacity Guide: Which Size Should You Choose?

One of the most common questions riders ask is: "What size top case do I need?" Here is a breakdown of our capacity options to help you decide:

45L Top Case: The Daily Commuter

The 45-liter box is the perfect balance between size and utility. It is compact enough not to overwhelm smaller bikes but spacious enough for daily needs.

  • Fits: One full-face helmet + gloves + rain jacket + lunch box.
  • Best for: City commuting, office runs, and weekend day trips.

55L Top Case: The Solo Traveler

If you need to carry more gear or ride a larger motorcycle, the 55-liter option gives you extra breathing room without being too bulky.

  • Fits: One full-face helmet + full riding jacket + boots OR one adventure helmet with peak + laptop bag.
  • Best for: Sport-touring, grocery runs, and solo long-distance trips.

65L Top Case: The Long-Haul Adventurer

The 65-liter king-size top box is designed for serious touring, especially if you ride with a passenger.

  • Fits: Two full-face helmets comfortably. Alternatively, holds a complete camping setup (sleeping bag, mat, clothes) for one person.
  • Best for: Two-up touring, adventure riding, and multi-day expeditions.

Universal Fitment and Installation

All our top cases come with a Universal Base Plate. This mounting plate is designed to attach to almost any existing tubular rear rack or flat luggage rack found on motorcycles. Installation is typically a simple DIY process requiring only basic tools. Once the base plate is installed, the top box usually features a Quick-Release System, allowing you to detach and carry the box like a suitcase in seconds.
